The first-ever "Beyond the 9-5" art exhibit is coming to the University Art Gallery in September to showcase the creations of the artistic people working at UAF. We all know that the art department faculty are artists, but there are artists and makers of every kind in just about every department on campus. Many artists work full or part-time jobs in addition to their artistic practice, carving out time on evenings and weekends to make it happen. Of course, art faculty also maintain their artistic practice outside of teaching and inspiring our students - but we thought it would be fun to take a moment and highlight the incredible range of artists on campus from a different perspective!

UAF non-art faculty and staff are invited to submit one piece of ready-to-hang or ready-to-display work. The show will run from Sept. 23 - Oct. 4, with an opening reception on Friday, Sept. 27 from 5-7 p.m. Artwork intake will take place on Sept. 19 from 4-7 p.m. and Sept. 20 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the University Art Gallery in the Fine Arts Complex, ART 313. More information about submissions is coming soon. For now, save the date and finish up your masterpieces for this fun exhibit!

"Beyond the 9 to 5" was dreamt up by UAF Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning and will be co-presented by Summer Sessions and the UAF Art Department.
