Week’s events: George Rydlinski, Swedish death cleaning, ending suicide, string band

University of ��ʮ��.cc Fairbanks Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning is hosting more than 40 free lectures, concerts and events this summer. 

Here’s what’s happening during the final week, Aug. 12-18:

• On Monday, Aug. 12, the Fairbanks Tall Timbers interview series honors George Rydlinski, former Fairbanks Symphony Orchestra principal bassoonist and music director for the Fairbanks Youth Orchestra. The interview is at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater, located on the fourth floor of the Usibelli Building.
• On Tuesday, Aug. 13, the Healthy Living lecture series will host Mishelle Nace, pediatric hospitalist. She will speak on “The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning: An ��ʮ��.ccn Version.” The talk is at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.
• On Wednesday, Aug.14, the Discover ��ʮ��.cc lecture series will feature Stacy Rasmus, director of UAF’s Center for ��ʮ��.cc Native Health Research. She will discuss “Tools for Life: ��ʮ��.cc Native Solutions to End Suicide.” The lecture is at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.
• On Thursday, Aug.15, the Music in the Garden concert series will feature Susan Grace at 6 p.m. and the ET Barnette String Band at 7:30 p.m. at the Georgeson Botanical Garden.

All events are free and open to the public. Parking on the UAF Troth Yeddha’ Campus is free after 5 p.m.
