Fall 2024 Career Services Events

Forge your path forward this fall with Career Services at UAF! Join us for our three major events designed to help you connect with employers and explore opportunities. At the Student Employee Job Fair  discover job opportunities on-campus for all UAF students. At the Fall Career Fair engage with a wide range of employers, network with industry professionals, and explore career paths that align with your interests.

For accounting students, Accounting Recruitment Week (ARW) offers a special focus on accounting careers, offering exclusive access to top firms and networking opportunities.

Whether you're actively seeking a job or internship, looking to network, or just exploring what's out there, our fall events are the perfect opportunity to gain exposure and take the next step in your career journey. Career fair FAQs

You are not required to register ahead of time, but it鈥檚 strongly encouraged. Registering will let you see what employers will be attending and will give employers the opportunity to reach out to you before the fair, giving you an advantage over students/alumni who don鈥檛 register in advance. Career Services will also send registered attendees helpful tips and info leading up to the fair!

Yes! Please come to one of our welcome tables to check in. By checking in on the day of the fair, you will be entered into a drawing for a $100 Amazon gift card!

The fair will be held from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. in the Wood Center, downstairs in the mall area and upstairs in the ballroom. Be sure to visit both floors! You can stop by any time and stay as long as you鈥檙e able.

The Wood Center鈥檚 physical address is 1731 South Chandalar Dr., Fairbanks, AK 99775. For parking information, please visit the UAF parking page. Free parking can be found in the Nenana lot on the day of the fair!

Some students and alumni might not be in Fairbanks, or your schedule might prevent you from attending. Even if you can鈥檛 make it, you can still apply for any jobs or internships posted on Handshake! Visit the to see the full list of employers attending the fair and all of their open positions.

UAF career fair attendees are not required to bring a resume. However, many employers collect resumes at our fairs. If you鈥檙e actively seeking a position, you should bring a few copies of your resume to hand out to employers you鈥檙e interested in.

Formal business attire is not required, but we recommend wearing a neat and clean button-down, sweater, or graphic-free shirt. Remember to bring comfortable shoes 鈥 you may be walking or standing for a long time.

Join us at the Student Employee Job Fair

Calling all departments and campus supervisors looking for student workers!  Career Services is putting on a Student Employee Job Fair on thursday, September 5th, 2024 from noon-3pm.

This tabling event will be set up in the Wood Center where students will be coming and going throughout the event. Some departments may choose to be more formal at their table and decide to use this time to set up future interviews with prospective student employees. Other departments may use this as a networking opportunity and encourage students to apply later for positions online.

Departments not currently hiring student workers are still welcome to participate.

Organizers are focusing on this fair as a primarily informational and networking event that allows students and departments to connect. Department representatives might bring job description handouts and business cards or contact information.

Student Registration is Open

Employers are looking to meet YOU at the Fall Career Fair on Thursday, October 10 from 10 am - 3 pm AKT in the Wood Center Ballroom and Mall Area. 

The Fall Career Fair is the perfect opportunity to explore a variety of industries and career pathways, network with employers, and secure a job or internship. Employers from a variety of industries are waiting to meet you!

Not looking for a job or internship right now? The Fall Career Fair is the perfect opportunity to connect with employers and to practice your networking skills. Find a company that fits your values and supports your career interests while building your networking confidence.

You can register for this event ahead of time so employers have the opportunity to connect with you prior to the Career Fair, giving you an advantage over students/alumni that do not register in advance. Registering on Handshake also allows you to see what employers will be attending. On the day of the fair, make sure to check-in at the Welcome Table to be entered into a drawing for a $100 Amazon gift card!

If you require accommodations in order to fully participate, please contact  two weeks in advance (September 26) so arrangements can be made.

Accounting Recruitment Week (ARW) 2024

September 20th, 2024 Meet the Firms Event | October 2nd - October 18th, 2024 Interviews Held

 First, let鈥檚 clarify one thing: The traditional name has stuck, but 鈥淎ccounting Recruitment Week鈥 is really a lot more than just one week!  It is a collection of events held every year specifically for accounting students and alumni. Accounting firms from across 性十八.cc come to campus for a Meet the Firms networking event to get to know you and share the opportunities they have available. You鈥檒l be able to submit your applications to the attending firms, with the potential to interview! Most recruiters are looking for students on a public accounting track, but we welcome all kinds of accounting students to this event. All recruiters involved are happy to talk with you about discerning the path that鈥檚 best for you.

  • September 20th, 2024 @ 3:30 - 5pm : Meet the Firms Event 
  • October 2nd - October 18th, 2024: Interviews held
  • October 25th, 2024: Deadline for students to accept or decline offers

Meet the Firms Event 

This Fall's Accounting Recruitment Meet the Firms events will be held on Friday, September 20 at UAF. These events are interactive tabling experiences where students will move between tables to connect with employers. 

Thank you for registering to participate in the 2024 Accounting Recruitment Week! As a friendly reminder last year we made minor updates to streamline the interview process for both students and employers. Please reference the information below for a refresher.

Interview Week:

Interviews no longer need to be scheduled in Handshake! Instead, you may extend and hold interviews on your own. UAF will have space available should you wish to hold interviews on campus, but it is not required. Interviews may take place at your office, virtually, or on campus.  

We do ask that you please follow the ARW timeline in respect of our students who are interviewing with multiple firms. Interviews must be held October 2 - October 18, with a student deadline to accept or decline an offer no sooner than Friday, October 25, 2024.

Employers who are seeking interview space on-campus must reach out to UAF (uaf-career@alaska.edu) by Friday, September 27. 

Registration:

Registration opens Tuesday, July 30 @ 8:00 am AKT

  • UAF Meet the Firms Event and Interviews $175.00
  • If attending both UAA and UAF Meet the Firms event, there is a reduced fee of $300

Registration closes on Tuesday, August 27th,  2024 @ 5:00 pm AKT

Payment deadline: Tuesday, September 3rd, 2024 @ 5:00 pm AKT

 

**Payments received after September 3, at 5:00 pm AKT will be assessed a $50 late fee

To encourage more students to participate in the meet the firms event, we will have refreshments available. If your business would like to help contribute to the refreshment table, please do so during registration. We will include your company name and logo on the refreshment table on the day of the event thanking you for your contribution.

  • Sunday, September 29 @ 5:00 pm AKT: Student application deadline
  • October 2 - October 18: Interview dates on-campus or off-campus
  • Friday, October 25: Deadline for applicants to accept or decline offers. Offers cannot expire before this date.

*Accounting Clubs' events are listed here as a courtesy, but are hosted by the clubs and they will communicate with invitees directly.

  1. A full refund will be honored if cancellation is received via email two weeks prior to the event date. Cancellations after this date are non-refundable.
  2. Additionally, no-shows are non-refundable/non-transferable. 
  3. If an event or fair needs to be canceled or have its date moved by the host institution, organizations that have already paid will receive a full refund. 
  4. Registration fee covers participation in Meet the Firms and Interview Week. An employer's decision to attend only one of these will not result in a partial refund. 

Space is limited so please let us know immediately if you need to cancel as other employers may be waiting to register. We appreciate your consideration.

Drop by Career Services on the 6th floor of the Rasmuson Library for a quick resume review or professional headshot appointment. Please bring your current resume with you! These drop in appointments are typically 15-20 minutes long. No registration is required.
